Joined Reckitt & Colman of Pakistan Ltd. as a trainee in 1970 and rose to the position of CEO by 1983. In 1991 was appointed as Regional head of Reckitt and Colman (now Reckitt Benckiser) for Pakistan to North Africa. Elected as President of the ‘Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry’, ‘Marketing Association’, and ‘Management Association’ of Pakistan. Founder President of ‘Pakistan Advertisers Society’ and ‘Pakistan Research Society’. In year 2000 was invited to join the government as Minister of State and Chairman ‘Export Promotion Bureau of Pakistan’. Later appointed as member of ‘Economic Coordination Committee of Pakistan’ and CEO of the ‘Trade Development Authority of Pakistan’ He has been on the Board of Directors’ of various local and international companies, in the private and public sectors, quoted on the Karachi/Stock Exchanges, for over 35 years, across industries such as Consumer, Pharmaceuticals, Petroleum, Energy, Food Processing, Philanthropic and Educational Institutions
Some of Mr. Ikram’s major recognitions include the award of Sitara-I-Imtiaz by the President of Pakistan, Gold Medals by the Federation of Chamber of Commerce and Industries and Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan, Life Time Achievement Award by Marketing Association of Pakistan and Pakistan Advertisers Society. Invited to be the President Trade and Industry for Commonwealth Club, UK. And Member Board of Advisors for Iqbal Institute of Policy Studies Islamabad.

Alumnus of St Anthony’s High School and Government College, Lahore, Mr. Zahid Majid received his Mechanical Engineering (Honours) Degree from Government College (now University) of Engineering and Technology, Lahore in 1959 with award of the Maclagan Gold Medal for standing First in the University Final Year examinations. In the course of his career he was recognised by the American Institute of Chemical Engineers with whom he remained a Member for well over 25 years. Upon graduation he also received a 2-year scholarship for training with the AEI Ltd in Manchester, UK and concurrently obtained qualifications in ‘Management’ from the Manchester College of Science and Technology, U.K.
During the course of his vast and varied professional experience he served at senior management level in reputed multinational companies in power, oil and fertilizer sector, both in Pakistan and internationally. He received diverse appointments and training courses to develop technical, analytical, communication and managerial skills leading to top-management assignments. Starting in 1962 with Harza Engg Int’l (power consulting) he joined Esso Eastern (oil marketing) in 1964. He was VP -Manufacturing heading the Daharki fertiliser plant and a Director on the Board of Exxon Chemical Pakistan Ltd (now Engro Corp) and bid adieu after an 18 year long association.
He moved to Gulf Oil in 1982 in Singapore (oil trading & lubricants) as Manager-Business Development and later assigned to Dubai as Regional General Manager where he led the design and construction of Lube oil blending plants in Yanbu and Jebel Ali. He joined Caltex Trading in Dubai in 1997 as Regional Manager – Business Development and subsequently moved again to Singapore covering business development in China and SE Asia from where he retired in 2003, after merger of Chevron-Texaco subsidiaries, to return to Pakistan.
During the mid-90’s he was instrumental in establishing two successful manufacturing business ventures in Dubai, Scott-Bader Middle East Ltd (unsaturated polyester resins) and EnerCanada Middle East Ltd (plastic master-batch), each divested later for profit.
On his return to Pakistan he was nominated a Director on the Boards of Sui Southern Gas Company Limited, Pakistan Petroleum Ltd and Oil & Gas Development Co. Ltd during 2005-08.
In 2007 he also participated in the ACCA Pakistan ‘Directors Excel’ program conducted by the Institute of Directors – London in Bhurban. In 2011 he consulted for MCB Bank in connection with their interest in privatisation of PSO.
